Homelessness Prevention

The Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) is a provincially-funded program that supports Ontario’s 47 municipal service managers to provide affordable housing and support services for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The objective of the program is to support service managers in preventing, addressing and reducing homelessness, including chronic homelessness.

The two key program outcomes of HPP are:

  • People experiencing homelessness obtain and retain housing
  • People at risk of homelessness remain housed

ELIGIBILITY

Through this program, you may qualify for assistance with costs such as:

  • Start Up
  • Arrears
  • Emergency Shelter Assistance

To see if you qualify for HPP benefits, a means test, which includes your income, assets and monthly expenses is required.

Partner Agencies include: United Native Friendship Centre, Rainy River Victim Services and The Fort Frances Salvation Army.
