Freedom of Information and Privacy
Everyone has the right to request access to most recorded information held by government organizations. The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) grants access to District of Rainy River Services Board’s (DRRSB) records.
PHIPA governs the handling of all personal health information by the District of Rainy River Services Board. MFIPPA governs all non-health-related personal information and other records in DRRSB’s possession. These two laws regulate how the DRRSB may collect, use, retain, disclose and dispose of personal information.
Privacy Statement
The District of Rainy River Services Board adheres to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) regarding both access to DRRSB held information and the privacy and protection of DRRSB held personal information. The DRRSB is committed to the protection of personal information that may be collected, used and disclosed by the DRRSB and when visiting the DRRSB’s web site in accordance with the requirements of MFIPPA.
Access to records:
Every person has a right of access to a record or a part of a record in the custody or under the control of an institution unless,
- the record or the part of the record falls within one of the exemptions under sections 6 to 15; or
- the head is of the opinion on reasonable grounds that the request for access is frivolous or vexatious.
Maintaining the privacy of your personal information here at the District of Rainy River Services Board is of the utmost importance. We are committed to collecting, using, and disclosing personal information responsibly and within the legislation set forth here in Ontario.
