River’s Edge Atelier and Rainy River EarlyON Centre Now Open
Fort Frances, Ontario – 2026/09/02 – The District of Rainy River Services Board (DRRSB) is pleased to announce that River’s Edge Atelier, a directly operated licensed child care centre, and the Rainy River EarlyON Child and Family Centre are now open at 202 Little Street in Rainy River. Both programs are co-located with the new Rainy River K–12 School and began welcoming families on August 31, 2026.
River’s Edge Atelier is licensed to provide toddler, preschool, kindergarten and school-age programs, creating additional early learning and child care options for local families. The centre is supported by a team of eight full-time staff and two casual staff, and is led by Child Care Supervisor Mykenzie Borger, RECE.
The Rainy River EarlyON Child and Family Centre is open to all families for programming and drop-in play. Led by EarlyON Coordinator Amanda Cyr, the centre provides free opportunities for parents, caregivers and young children to play, learn, connect with one another and access information about child development and community supports.
“Bringing child care, EarlyON programming and school-based services together in one location creates meaningful support for children and families,” said Deb Ewald, Chair of the DRRSB. “This new space will help children learn, grow and build positive connections as they begin their early years journey.”
The name River’s Edge Atelier reflects the centre’s approach to early learning. An atelier is a studio or workshop where people learn through exploration, creativity, questions and new ideas. The centre recognizes children as capable, curious and active learners who grow through play, discovery and connection.
