DRRSB Celebrates Completion of HOPE

Fort Frances, Ontario – 2024/09/19 – The District of Rainy River Services Board (DRRSB) is excited to announce the completion of its newly named HOPE centre at 324 Victoria Avenue, Fort Frances. The name, which stands for Housing, Opportunity, Progress, Empowerment, reflects the vision of the DRRSB to create a hub of essential services and housing support for the community.

This afternoon, stakeholders, including community leaders, partners, and DRRSB staff and board members, gathered to celebrate the successful completion of this significant project. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts that have made HOPE a reality and celebrated the collective commitment to enhancing community support services.

The HOPE centre will house a range of essential services, including the Safe Bed program already provided by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and new transitional housing services offered by DRRSB. Additionally, it will continue to house the Out of the Cold Warming Centre, operated seasonally to provide crucial support during colder months.

“The completion of this project represents a transformative step in supporting those facing homelessness in our district. By providing transitional housing and critical services, we are not only offering immediate relief but also laying the groundwork for long-term stability and independence,” said Sandra Weir, Integrated Services Manager (Housing/Homeless Lead), District of Rainy River Services Board.

A soft opening of the transitional housing services is expected in November. The DRRSB looks forward to launching this initiative and the positive impact it will have on the community.
