DRRSB Reaffirms Commitment to Addressing Community Needs

Fort Frances, Ontario – 2025/01/28 – The District of Rainy River Services Board (DRRSB) extends its congratulations to the successful recipients of the recently announced HART (Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment) Hub funding in the north, Greater Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, and Kenora, and applauds their work to create positive change.

While the collaborative proposals submitted to enable a HART Hub for the Rainy River District were not selected for funding, the DRRSB remains committed to this transformative vision of providing a centralized hub for individuals facing homelessness and addiction to access essential recovery and support services.

HART Hubs as envisioned by the province are a vital step toward addressing systemic challenges in our community, offering comprehensive resources to empower individuals on their path to recovery and stability. Though this funding opportunity has concluded, our dedication to pursuing this initiative with our Rainy River District Ontario Health Team partners remains strong.

“The HART Hub initiative is an innovative approach to addressing complex needs in our communities, and we remain committed to exploring opportunities that align with our goals of supporting those experiencing homelessness and addiction,” said Andrew Hallikas, DRRSB Vice-Chair and Mayor of Fort Frances. “We are encouraged by the progress being made in Ontario and would welcome the chance to revisit this initiative should future funding or opportunities arise.”

We sincerely thank our partners, supporters, and community members who continue to champion this important work. Together, we can make meaningful strides in addressing these critical issues.
